Shown here the results of successful modern day figure training. Some lace 23 hours a day, 7 days a week, and some much less. They demonstrate how they have achieved these figures with gradual training and without ill effects. For some it is just the improved shape, but also the feeling of the constriction itself that drives further reductions.

They also demonstrate that a woman's waist can be reduced and maintained below 19", which has been questioned by some historians. They were not corseted since childhood, like during the Victorian or Edwardian era. One difference is that the classic victorian ribcage was much narrower as a result of the early corseting, which helped to form the ribcage into a funnel shape. Yet, the late start can be overcome by consistent training as Lacie, Sylphide, Dita and others demonstrate. Film actresses are often required to wear corsets with minimal time for training, which will put off some of them permanently as a result of improper training However, others will after this first experience engage in long term corset wear. The entertainment industry has coined the term "corset films", which always do well at the box office, such as Titanic, Moulin Rouge, Pirates of the Caribbean and many more.
